Interested in Helping Designing Stages for Megaman Unlimited's Endless Attack?

@ RedBlupi – Now that I’m done with N64Mario’s contribution I’ll place enemies in your section.
@ Litdude32 – I see what your ideas are but I think it would be better if you draw them on the 16×16 grid. Otherwise I might end up making so many changes to fill up the space that it will end up not really being your design…
@ Splash – Hmmm I see what I can do. ^_^
@ TheSkipper1995 – Looks like you’ve got a bunch of cool ideas here. But we don’t have room for another 6ScreensDown section. I could add another one but it is extra work. I’ll see. Unless you could modify your design to fit another type of section shape (?)March 17, 2014 at 12:49 pm #3085
What do you mean 16 x 16 grid?Does it mean that the platforms,hazards should be smaller than I draw?March 18, 2014 at 2:54 pm #3086
Ok I could maybe modify my design to not be 6 screens down, but I have a question– how can we make sure our designs aren’t similar to something you’ve already designed? Or is the endless stage made up entirely of fan-made submissions(that way we can just look at previous posts to see whats already been designed)?March 19, 2014 at 11:01 am #3087
Well, I don’t really want to spoil the content of the stages so, here is a “progress” map:
In blue are all the sections that are already assigned.
The others are the ones that are missing a design.
In the lower right is your vertical section. I haven’t worked on it yet.
As you can see the other 2 vertical down sections are done.
If I get some times I’ll try to add yours.March 20, 2014 at 2:12 pm #3091
@Litdude32 Well, Mega Man operates on a grid, and each block/tile takes up one square. Each square is 16×16 pixels, and each screen is 16×14 of these tiles. Your setup has things off the grid and too big, so it’s hard to translate it into the correct format without completely ruining your design.

This is mine. It’s an adaptation of the part of Shadow Man’s stage with the grenades, in case you can’t tell. I used it because this game was based around Mega Man 3, so I felt liek it would be a bit of a homage. I know it says to design original areas, but I wanted to at least try to contribute something to the game I stayed up really late in anticipation for the night before. The problem is that I know nothing about level design. I think replacing the walking grenades with G-Soldiers is original enough… also I made it in MS Paint because I’m cheap, and I didn’t just take it straight out of a map because that felt like too much of a cop-out.March 21, 2014 at 5:53 am #3094
Thanks for explaining about the templates and for your submission.
I’ll see what I can do. I guess those Hologram Enemies do need more exposure… ^_^
I might do couple changes to the design to make it more different. I think tellies could make things interesting.
I might cut it short and have screens going down at the end since we’re running out of long horizontal sections : P
But I still have a few other sectionst o finish before getting to yours : P.
I’ll post here when I’ve got something done.March 21, 2014 at 12:45 pm #3095
Oh, Tellies would make that really interesting. The reason I did a completely horizontal is because I saw one extra slot, but I don’t care what you do to it. Even if I did care, I would have no right to complain since it’s your game.April 5, 2014 at 1:56 pm #3098
So, Phil, how is it going?April 6, 2014 at 12:26 pm #3099
Have you already looked at my section? Sended to your email adress a month ago.April 8, 2014 at 10:39 am #3100
Sorry about the delay. I’m busy with a lot of personal stuff. And I’ve added many new areas to the endless stage.
TheStupidTriforce, I went ahead with your concept to make a section using Holograms but I have re-designed it to be different than in MM3. Also, we don’t have anymore straight horizontal sections no more so here’s the result:
Dragy, I have looked at your section but I’m not really sure how I’m going to use it.April 8, 2014 at 10:49 am #3101
The blue sections are done. The other ones are still yet to be designed:

I’ve been considering contributing to this, but when I look over what’s left to be designed and how the blue sections are done and others are yet to be designed, I’m overwhelmed and confused…. I see white space, I see bits of pink, green and yellow, and I see black. I also see odd bits of purple. I’d like to design a vertical 6 pane, but it’s a very simple concept that involves a bit of risk that I’m not sure bodes too well for an endless idea that I figure would be better to present as an idea before I design an actual tileset for it.
It involves the use of mixing Wily 3’s gravity reversal and Rainbow Man’s lasers, which includes the redirectional enemies (both the single direction and fans). It could also include spikes, but that may be a bit overkill. Would that be a simple enough design pattern to follow that would be feasible in an endless design?April 15, 2014 at 7:40 am #3108
The white areas are not used. The areas with black and other colors are the remaining levels to design. (They are placeholder so that we can actually play them before they are designed.)
I’d suggest doing an basic sketch of your idea and I’ll let you know if it’s feasible. You don’t have to make a tileset. I’ll take care of it. I already made a bunch of them that I’m going to re-use and recolor.April 15, 2014 at 7:51 am #3109
Here is where we are now. I have designed the 2 vertical up sections.
@doicm. – If you make a sketch of your ideas, I still think we could use it in the 2-Horizontal + 4 vertical sections. What do you think?
I’m sorry. I’d already designed the 6-Screens vertical sections before you posted your message.
